A woman on her way home finds an
injured snake by the side of the road. She brought it home and nursed
it back to health. When she went to release the snake, it turned around
and bit her. As she lay dying, she asked "Why, after all I did for you,
did you bite me?" The snake replied "Lady, you knew I was a snake when
you picked me up.
